Establishing an Environment to Enhance Innovation

The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) - Wisconsin Chapter's next meeting/presentation will feature Kathi Seifert and MaryEllyn Vicksta from Kimberly-Clark. The topic of this meeting will be "Establishing an Environment to Enhance Innovation".

Kathi Seifert will discuss how Kimberly-Clark embraces the entrepreneur and develops the tools, environment, management sponsors, and people in this presentation. MaryEllyn Vicksta will discuss the development of innovation strategies along with some tips to inspire innovation.

About the presenter

Kathi P. Seifert is Executive Vice President for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Kathi oversees the company's $5.7 billion global personal care business. Kathi was recently named to Fortune magazine's list of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. She also was named to Forbes.com's annual "America's Top Businesswomen" list in 2001. Only 24 women qualified for this distinction, and Ms. Seifert was among only eight women on the Forbes.com list to hold one of the top three executive positions at their company. In her current role, Ms. Seifert leads Kimberly-Clark teams that develop and manage global plans for branding and product positioning, R&D programs, and capital investment for disposable diapers, training and youth pants, and feminine and adult care products. In addition to these responsibilities, she directs the company's U.S. and Canadian consumer sales teams and safety and quality assurance functions.

MaryEllyn Vicksta is an Innovation Pioneer concentrating on innovation and creativity. She became interested in Creativity and Creative Problem Solving during her first year at Creative Problem Solving Institutes (CPSI) in Buffalo, New York in 1992. She has leveraged her learning at CPSI by facilitating within Kimberly Clark, training others in facilitation skills, and by developing a series of advanced training courses in the area of creativity and innovation. Mary Ellyn completed the Leadership program at the Creative Problem Solving Institute and is an active member of the CPSI Leadership community. She was recently honored with receiving their Colleague Award. She is also certified in KAI (Kirton Adaptor-Innovator Index) and Six Thinking Hats (deBono). At the Creative Problem Solving Institute last June she spear-headed a new course entitled, "Concentrating on Corporate Innovation" with two other leaders that will be offered at future CPSI conferences. Mary Ellyn is also a member of PDM.
