About PDMA
Founded in 1976, PDMA is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization. About 63% of its members are corporate practitioners of new product development (December, 2003), with the remaining 37% split evenly between academic members and service providers.
PDMA's vision is to be the "Thought Leader" in Product Development and Product Management of both, manufactured goods and services.
PDMA actively supports several knowledge-generating and disseminating activities. PDMA sponsors a yearly international conference, a quarterly periodical (Visions), and a scholarly research journal (Journal of Product Innovation Management) published six times a year. The Association has also published The PDMA Handbook of New Product Development and The PDMA Toolbook for New Product Development.
About the NY Metro Chapter
The NY Metro Chapter of the PDMA is the local chapter for PDMA in Northern New Jersey, New York City, Southern New York State, Southern Connecticut, and Long Island. Currently, half of the almost 200 members are located in New Jersey.
The chapter mission is to provide product developers and managers with information, education, relationships, and resources enriching their professional development and careers.
The chapter sponsors conferences, networking events, professional training and other local activities.
Active members include representatives from a wide range of industries such as financial services, pharmaceutical, food production, medical equipment, and high technology (computer and electrical equipment) industries.
Members represent several key product development functions, such as product management, product development, marketing, and project management. Management and consulting members round out the membership.
Half of the members are director level and above in their respective organizations.
