New Product Development Summit a Huge Success!

The inaugural new product development summit was a huge success. Held at the Coca–Cola Company’s world wide headquarters, the event was attended by over 250
product development and management professionals and 40 students from Georgia’s leading universities. Scott Biondich, president of the local chapter, said “We were very pleased with the turnout and are grateful to all of the speakers who provided attendees with an outstanding experience.”
Michael McGrath, a world renown product development expert keynoted the event. Michael
outlined the best practices required for organizations to become “Next Generation Product Development” successes. Critical to this effort is the development of an integrated management system which will allow organizations to proactively manage critical decisions in the areas of strategy alignment, portfolio decisions, resource allocation and project management.
Speakers from several prominent local companies provided attendees best practices on a broad range of product development topics. Elizabeth Wood shared IBM’s story regarding
the complete transformation of the product development process. Jack O’ Bannon of Lockheed-Martin shared some incredible insights regarding platform management as he outlined the C-130 product and their success keeping the platform in the market for over 50 years!
An enlightening panel discussion with Clive Roux from Philips Design, Susan Robertson from Ideas to Go and Mark Thomas from Techno Chef, highlighted innovative methods to improve the effectiveness on the front end of the development process. Dave Clark from Scientific Atlanta gave a motivating talk on how to succeed in product management. Rob Wolz from Gulfstream outlined winning strategies when competing in extremely competitive markets.
