Realizing the Benefits of Wireless Technologies: The Need for Collaborative Development Speaker: Dr. Anand Iyer, PRTM Today's business environments are challenged with identifying and unlocking new sources of value that accrue to all stakeholders in a value chain. And while several levers exist, businesses constantly seek methods to create new sources of revenue, through market and product expansion while hopefully, and even simultaneously, improving overall operational efficiency. Wireless technologies represents one class of levers, and has the ability to address both sources of value. But with the "alphabet soup" confusion that dominates today's environment, where does a company start? How can an organization systematically take advantage of wireless technologies? The answer lies in the ability to judiciously blend the right technology, in the right environment, for the right application or process, with the right business model. And while many have failed to capitalize on this opportunity, several have succeeded. This discussion focuses on some of the development techniques that winners have taken advantage of. We'll specifically discuss a method that begins with a value chain opportunity analysis, which helps to identify the forms of co-development required to develop a solution, and a "layered" approach to bringing the value of wireless technologies to fruition. |
