President: Michael Abbott, P.E. Key Technologies
Michael Abbot has been designing and developing medical, industrial, and consumer products for nearly a decade. In addition to holding patents on several devices, he has published on topics including non-holonomic dynamics, control system theory, kinematic systems design, and conjugate cam generation. Mike is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Key Technologies, Inc., an engineering and product development consulting firm in Baltimore serving product companies in the medical and industrial markets throughout the U.S.
Mr. Abbott has a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland .
Secretary Treasurer Gene Owens: Technical Manager The Reynolds and Reynolds Company
Gene Owens is a Technical Manager for the leading provider of integrated solutions for automotive retailers. He has 27 years experience in the automotive retail marketplace. Prior to joining Display Data Corporation (a company subsequently acquired by Reynolds and Reynolds), he was the Corporate Controller for a auto dealership group in Southern California. Since 1990 he has been involved in product management and development. In 1992 he brought a next generation Accounting and Payroll System to market. He has served is various product management and product development management roles for the last 12 years. Since 1996 he has been involved in the design, deployment, and maintenance of the development process at Reynolds and Reynolds. In addition, he participates in the Reynolds and Reynolds business planning activities.
Gene has a BA in Accounting from the California State University , Fullerton . He is a PDMA certified New Product Development Professional , and holds a Master Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University .
New Membership VP: Jennifer Regan, P.E. Key Technologies
Jennifer Regan is the President and co-founder of Key Technologies, Inc., an engineering and product development consulting firm in Baltimore . Key Tech nologies serves product companies in the medical and industrial markets throughout the U.S.
Ms. Regan holds degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering, and is a registered Professional Engineer. She has been consulting to medical, industrial and power generation clients for more than 20 years. Her work has contributed to the advancement of fluid flow measurement, industrial control systems and precision diagnostic instruments. Ms. Regan holds patents and has published papers on these topics in the conference proceedings of the Instrument Society of America, the Electric Power Research Institute, the American Nuclear Society, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
In 1998, Ms. Regan and her three partners joined forces to form their current company, Key Tech nologies. Prior to this she worked at an engineering consulting firm in the Washington DC area, and at Corey Regan, Inc., which she co-founded in 1996.
Communications VP: Christopher Dykes CD Product Development
Christopher Dykes is founder and principle of CD Product Development, a product design consultancy with focus on innovative product developement through high end Industrial Design and Engineering. Chris Dykes holds a BS in product design and has over 15 years of medical product development background with Dupont and Ohmeda Medical, a division of GE medical. His contributions include product architecture for automated DNA sequencing instruments, automated blood analysers, as well as life support systems for premature neonates. His work has been published in Product Design 3, Innovations and LIFE magazine. Chris holds over a dozen application patents mostly in the medical field.
Administration
VP Samuel Reed is a product development project manager at Baltimore-based Key Technologies. He currently specializes in high-tech medical devices but his resume ranges from fun consumer products to nuclear power plant instrumentation. His favorite flavor of product development is the high-tech variety - merging advanced science with NPD know-how to launch first generation products that work! He says PDMA furthers his ability to develop new products and provides valuable connections to other local developers. Sam has Bachelor of Science degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Physics from the University of Maryland.
